As a corporate recruiter, I spent years connecting hundreds of people to their dream jobs. I loved my career, but I really wanted to make a living doing what I’ve been passionate about since childhood: Making pretty things and making things pretty.

However, like many people, I kept my day job and lived for nights and weekends when I could freely indulge my creative talents. In my spare time, I always had some kind of project underway, such as making furniture or creating custom decor for events I hosted. 

A few years ago, I bought a Cricut machine so I could level-up my craft-making skills. Once I figured out how to use it, the groundwork for Preppy Socialite was laid. I started out selling tees and personalized items to friends, family members, and small businesses. Soon Preppy Socialite became a full-blown side hustle.  

Little did I know that my days of working for someone else were numbered. The coronavirus pandemic hit, my corporate recruiter job disappeared, and I decided it was time to go all in on Preppy Socialite. I’m so glad I did.
